Houses
The House System at King’s Hill
We have a House System across the school to promote the notion of how we operate as a TEAM at King’s Hill. The House System upholds the values and ethos of our school and provides all of the pupils with the opportunities to become involved in team events / activities and gain life skills to support them as they grow.
As a member of the House System, our pupils develop, a wide range of attributes, which reflect our school expectations:
- Teamwork
- Achievement
- Challenge / competitiveness
- Leadership
- Individual / collective responsibility
- Confidence
- Communication Skills
- Flexibility and resilience
Every pupil from Reception to Year 6, is placed into one of the four houses. Pupils will be in the same house as their brothers and sisters. The houses names are; Aqua, Ignis, Terra and Ventus – Latin names for the 4 elements.

House Points
House dojo points encourage a team ethos across the school and allow pupils of all ages to have a common goal. They form part of the whole school reward system. House points are gained through participating in team events, through the different house tournaments and dojos in class.
House Charities
Each year the houses support a different charity. They raise money completing different activities and there is usually a house tournament on this day.
House Captains / Vice Captains
Each year pupils from Year 6 have the chance to become their House’s Captain and pupils from Year 5 their House’s Vice-Captain. The pupils have to fill in an application form answering the following questions:
- What does team mean to you?
- How would you react if your house came last?
- What would you do if someone in your house was upset?
- How would you motivate others in your house?
An election is held and the winning pupils represent their Houses for the academic year.
